luck/glück

So, today is the big day. The BIG day. Boy, I’m so excited, I feel like I’ve won the lottery. And I wonder how long this feeling will last. I will report back how my first week on my first real job ever was on Friday.

By the way, when I saw this installation at Swarovski, Innsbruck, I was tempted to take it with me. It really speaks to me. And it is pink!

things i love thursday

The last “I don’t have to work”-Thursday, it is… and it was a wonderful warm Thursday. But I spent it running errands, organizing stuff, preparing for next week and THE BIG CHANGE. Uh-oh. *insert teletubby*

So, what happy sparkles filled my life this week?

° Seeing one of my very best friends and spending an afternoon with her searching ducklings and sitting in the sun.

° That someone graced my last two free weeks for a loooooooooong time1 with absolutely great weather. Warm, sunny, delightfull. Just like a vacation should be. Thank you, weathergoddess.

° The first park weekend of the season! The boyfriend and I lounged in the shade, watching kids running and playing, we even spotted a piñata at a birthday party. Kannenfeldpark, I missed you.

° A new mobile phone. Didn’t plan this one, but a I had to clear some things in my contract I also used the moment to renew said contract, and get myself a new shiny bling-thing. Because my old one, while still being in good shape, showed some signs of wishing to retire. So now I sit in front a mobile phone that is specifically marketed at women, which means that it comes in a very pretty box, that sparkles and is pink. If I wanted I could even had the phone itself in PINK – ahem, no, thank you. White will do perfectly. The first thing I did after switching it on was turning the very girly font to a more readable one. Sheesh. But it’s pretty, it is new… and I like it. Best feature: the camera. Wheee!2

° Feeling on top of my laundry, and not buried beneath it, yay me!

  2. The Shinyness just got a little dull after I found out that the phone refuses to sync contacts with the mac. Hooray. #not []

the gardener’s morning

bartblume

The robin’s song at daybreak
Is a clarion call to me
Get up and get out in the garden
for the morning hours flee

I cannot resist the summons
What earnest gardener could
For the golden hours of morning
Get into the gardeners blood

The magic spell is upon me
I’m glad that I did not wait
For life’s at it’s best in the morning
As you pass through the garden gate

(Howard Dolf)

This is one of my favourite poems. I found it in a blog last year and it sums up perfectly how a gardener feels. It’s the very one that my header-picture shows. The plant is a Caryopteris divaricata “Snow Fairy”, I think. I took the picture three years ago in my aunt’s garden, and hence there were no tags.

things i love thursday

Hello friends, it’s already Thursday again! Which means, tomorrow is Friday, so the weekend is almost there. And the forecast for this particular little town is looking great so far. Yay!

Well, the biggest point on my List today is of course my new job. I am still struggeling with adjusting to this new situation, but I guess that is normal when your life and plans are turned upside down.
But there have been other things that were great too!

° Gorgeous warm spring weather – my inner lizzard is basking in the sun
° Digging in dirt again – as I said yesterday, being back into gardening feels great
° New clothes – I recently scored some really great clothes in a sale, because the shop is moving and they had to clear their storage.
° The knitting and crochet books of Debbie Stoller – If you want to learn any of those crafts, her books should be your first choice. Although the patterns are a bit weird, her way of explaining even the trickiest stuff is amazing.
° Bananas and Avocados
° Cream cheese
° that all of my African Violets are blooming again

What did you love today/this week?
